Not wanting to travel too far from the hotel the evening before our departure, we found a nearby restaurant, Le Pois Penche, which calls itself an authentic Parisian brasserie. They’ve been open since 2007. We stopped by around 3pm, right in the middle of the lunch and dinner shifts, which led to us being the only customers in the restaurant.
Thanks to Davia’s father, who left a comment on our post about our breakfast yesterday urging us to not allow ourselves to be treated like “lost sheep” when we’re guided to a table, we ended up in a seat next to the window with a nice view of the slippery street. For appetizers, Davia had the Atlantic Salmon Tartare and I had the French Onion soup.

For our main course, Davia had the mussels and I had the croque madame. I’ve had a few croque madames in my day, and the thick, crispy bread and fresh ham made this one great.
thyme, and cream
We were both surprised at how good everything was, considering we’ve asked the concierge for recommendations multiple times and no one had mentioned this restaurant.
