Poissonnerie La Mer

After our meal at Le Pois Penché, we decided to take a long walk to Poissonnerie La Mer so I could pick up a lobster for the train ride home. Even though you can’t bring items such as fruits and vegetables, you can bring a lobster. You can’t bring a cheese sandwich, you can’t bring rice, you can’t bring milk, but you can bring a lobster. Butter is also allowed. So, much to my dismay that seafood is easier to bring than pretty much anything else, I settled for a lobster and garlic butter. The walk was about 2.5 miles, which took longer than we thought it would due to the weather but we got to explore some other areas of the city.

We walked through the Parterre du Quartier des Spectacles and Place Émilie-Gamelin, both of which were covered with a fresh blanket of snow. There were a couple of mobile homes parked in Berri Park and it looked like they had just arrived and were gearing up for selling Christmas trees.

It was a long walk to La Mer

When we got to the fish market, I had a little discussion with the fishmonger. She thought I was asking for a lobster weighing 1.5 kg but I wanted a 1.5 lb. Didn’t take long to sort that out and I’m looking forward to lunch tomorrow.

The lobster, along with lobster-related essentials.

By the checkout line, the owner was slicing off and handing out fresh samples of salmon.

Since it was already dark outside, we got an Uber back home. Our driver’s name was Rachad. Although the Uber app said “Reviews say Rachad is an excellent conversationalist,” ironically, he didn’t say anything the entire trip as he drove us on the Quebec Autoroute 720 and through the Ville-Marie Tunnel.

Rachad bopping his head to Celene Dion

While Rachad didn’t have much to say, his choice in music did. He was bopping to Celine Dion on CD for the entire ride. He sang almost every word to I’m Your Lady out loud. Celine Dion is huge in Canada. Canadians love Celine Dion like Germans love David Hasselhoff.

Finally, after almost an hour, we made it back to our room at Le Mount Stephen.

They just added the nutcrackers yesterday, and I think they look great!
